*2007 Salon Les Mesnil Blanc de Blanc
$450.00btl/$1350.00 per 3 pack OWC
$40btl LESS THAN CHEAPEST PRICE ON WINESEARCHER
(Wine Advocate 96)

The superb 2007 Brut Blanc de Blancs Le Mesnil wafts from the glass with a beautiful bouquet of crushed chalk, lemon oil, crisp green apple, white flowers and brioche. On the palate, it’s medium to full-bodied, taut and incisive, with bright acids, a tight-knit core and a brisk mousse, concluding with a long, chalky and bone-dry finish. After the comparatively broad and fleshy 2002, 2004 and 2006 vintages, the 2007 Salon seems to mark a return to a racier, more precise style-though admittedly that’s in keeping with the style of the vintage-that makes me anticipate the release of the 2008 all the more eagerly.

*2017 Puligny Montrachet Champ Gain 1er Cru Sauzet
$109.99btl/$1187.89 per case
$40btl LESS THAN CHEAPEST PRICE ON WINESEARCHER
(Vinous 92)

(from a lower-altitude site on hard, compact rocky soil adjacent to Sauzet’s holding in La Truffière): Bright pale yellow. Expressive fruit bomb of a nose, offering scents of lemon oil, white peach and hazelnut. Suave in texture but quite dry, even a bit austere, showing good mineral and floral lift. Finishes tactile, lightly saline and persistent, with a note of crushed stone. This appears to be evolving slowly.

*2017 Puligny Montrachet Les Folatieres 1er Cru Sauzet
$139.99btl/$1511.82 per case
$45btl LESS THAN CHEAPEST PRICE ON WINESEARCHER
(Burg Hound 90-93)

Whiffs of wood toast and the exotic can be found on the dried white and yellow orchard and passion fruit along with wisps of floral, citrus and melon. There is excellent volume and focused power to the medium weight and attractively textured flavors that exude a subtle bead of minerality on the bone dry and youthfully austere finale that offers slightly better depth if not better length.

*2014 Puligny Montrachet Les Referts Girardin
$78.99btl/$853.09 per case
$30btl LESS THAN CHEAPEST PRICE ON WINESEARCHER
(Wine Advocate 93)

Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting, Girardin’s 2014 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Referts has a fresh and vibrant bouquet with wonderfully delineated cold stone and Granny Smith apple scents, just a faint oiliness present, not unlike Thai fish oil. The palate is fresh and vibrant with a fine line of acidity. There was superb brightness and energy conveyed by this Puligny, and it just sings on the shimmering finish. This is a Les Referts with great potential.

*2016 Puligny Montrachet Les Enseigneres Francois Carillon
$61.50btl/$664.20 per case
$20btl LESS THAN CHEAPEST PRICE ON WINESEARCHER
(Burg Hound 89-92) “OUTSTANDING TOP VALUE”

A moderately exotic nose features notes of petrol, lychee nut and mandarin orange. The rich but once again well-focused medium-bodied flavors possess both good muscle and volume while retaining the natural elegance that is Puligny on the palate-drenched finish. This is also a very impressive villages.

*2016 Puligny Montrachet Clos du Vieux Chateau Francois Carillon
$61.50btl/$664.20 per case
$20btl LESS THAN CHEAPEST PRICE ON WINESEARCHER
(Burg Hound 89-92)

A hint of matchstick character mixes with more classic aromas of pear, acacia and citrus zest. The delicious medium-bodied flavors are tighter and better defined on the lingering finish that possesses even better depth on the linear and youthfully austere finale. This is terrific and highly recommended.

*2015 Gevrey Chambertin Champeaux 1er Cru Eric & Jean Luc Burguet
(Formerly Alain Burguet)
$99.99btl/$1199.88 per case
OUR PRICE IS $25-$50 LESS PER BOTTLE THAN WINESEARCHER
(Jim Sirna 96)

I just tasted this yesterday and I think Burg Hound was a bit conservative with his rating. (It is a barrel sample note) This wine is quite forward the ripeness of the 2015 vintage showing through. The nose is filled with wild berries and violets. Very pretty. Supple tannins, voluptuous mouth feel, good concentration and fine length are the hallmarks of this very correct Gevrey. The finish is pure silk and lingers quite long. GRAND VIN!
(Burg Hound 90-93) “OUTSTANDING” BARREL SAMPLE
A more elegant and airy nose of cooler high-toned red currant and currant that is nuanced by hints of earth and sauvage. The sleek, refined and more obviously mineral-driven middle weight flavors retain good punch on the refreshing and inviting finish. However, this is deceptively approachable at present yet a very firm tannic spine is lurking beneath the abundant sap and thus at least some patience will be beneficial.
