Older Vintage Brunello Mixed Pack Deal
Elisabetta Gnudi is an important force in Tuscan wine. The owner of Borgo Scopeto in Chianti Classico, she purchased
Caparzo in 1999, soon followed by the acquisition of the adjacent property, the venerable Altesino, in 2003. I have always been a fan of her range of products and the honest pricing associated with them. This set of new release offers a good number of excellent value buys.
This is a special multi vintage, in wood, six pack offering. Two bottles each; 2000, 2004 and 2008. A great way to sample some great older vintages of Brunello for a great price. Check the deal on the net, no one has this six pack available at these prices (the 2004 alone sells for $115btl online).

2000 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna la Casa
Brunello di Montalcino La Casa is one of the few opaque, saturated-colored Brunellos of the vintage. The nose offers up intense aromas of ripe berries, tobacco-tinged, leathery, smoky, roasted herbs, and grilled meat. There is huge flavor extraction, massive tannin, extraordinary density and richness, and a monster finish. Substantial, with plenty of structure and tannin, this medium-bodied, tannic Brunello should age nicely for 15-20 years.
2004 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna la Casa
The single-vineyard 2004 Brunello di Montalcino La Casa is a sweet, layered offering that blossoms on the palate with notable elegance and class. The wine continues to build, showing terrific volume and density as its dark fruit accompanies the tannins all the way to the finish. This is an intense, brooding Brunello in need of bottle age, but its qualities are impossible not to admire even at this early stage.
2008 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna la Casa
The beautiful 2008 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna la Casa has an articulate and full-bodied nature that has already lost most of the nervous austerity characteristic of the cooler 2008 vintage. Indeed, this wine bursts from the starting gate with dark fruit laced with dried tobacco, cured meat, savory spice and black licorice. There’s a sweet note in the mouth followed by soft tannins and fleshy fruit nuances. Only 13,000 bottles were produced.
