Old School Bordeaux
I hadn’t had this wine in maybe 40 years? It was a Bordeaux I could afford in the 70’s! That’s cheap! Anyway a sample of the 2014 Vintage was sent to me recently and I was delighted to find a wine that had stayed traditional all these years. That “Old Style” rustic Bordeaux. Deeply colored with gritty tannins. A bit burley. Great with grilled meats, cheese or anything stewed. And even though it is a bit “less sophisticated” tan some other Bordeaux in style, it comes all dressed up in a Six Pack Wood Box and a distinctive slightly square bottle

This is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Very deeply colored with aromas of plum puree, anise and Chinese tea. In the mouth there is good grip and the spicy black fruits mix with earth tones, slate and wet stones. The acidity is fresh and leads to a bright finish that is rustic with traces of hypothecary smells. A time capsule from a very good time……………….
