Fabulous Falanghina- MUST BUY
In March of 2017 Jim spent a few weeks in Sorrento located in the Campania Region of Italy. Stunning beautiful on the Bay of Naples with the Amalfi Coast, Pompeii, Naples, Herculaneum and Capri all nearby. But what was more beautiful, was the food and wine. As a lover of white Burgundy only he brought home a case of wine on his return. What was it? Fiano di Avellino from San Gregorio. We have sold quite a lot of this wine and now we have the outstanding Falanghina from the same winery. This is a summer white that everyone should be drinking.
This is our MUST BUY wine of the month. Wine is in stock NOW!
Irpinia is the historical name of the Province of Avellino in Campania, one of the largest and most populated regions of Southern Italy. It is an area with a deeply rooted agricultural tradition, where some of the most original and enduring European wines are born, such as the red Taurasi and the whites Fiano di Avellino, Falanghina del Sannio and Greco di Tufo.
Irpinia is a truly unique territory under many aspects: Mediterranean latitudes, mountain viticulture, fresh rainy climate, with wines that for their style and character are very different from classic “southern” stereotype.
2017 Feudi di San Gregorio * Falanghina del Sannio
88pts RP, 90pts JS
The value-priced 2017 Falanghina del Sannio opens to a crisp and luminous appearance. Feudi di San Gregorio opts for an accessible approach to this easy-drinking wine with a hands-off winemaking philosophy. The bouquet shows ripe fruit with apricot, preserved lemon and blanched almond. The wine hits the palate in a direct and immediate fashion, offering a great sense of zestiness and freshness along the way. This is the quintessential summer sipper.
