Best Buy Must Buy
Tonight is the NIGHT PARADE IN YBOR CITY. They start closing the streets down around 3pm so we will be closing early at 4pm to avoid the madness. So I decided to do a Crazy Sale on one of our Best Selling Wines…Citto from Volpaia. Take advantage of this SUPER LOW PRICING.
Many of you have bought and loved this little Tuscan gem from famous Chianti Producer Volpaia called “CITTO”. It drinks well beyond its price and is simply delicious. The new vintage, 2016, was recently brought to us to taste and we were looking forward to another winner. To be honest, we were disappointed. It had none of the complexity and charm of the 2015. You see we just don’t blindly buy a wine we liked in the past, we try every vintage. As you can imagine the distributor of this wine was not happy as we had purchased several hundred cases of the 2015. He then picked up his phone, disappeared for a few minutes and came back smiling. He had found 50 cases of the 2015 in NYC that he could make available to us and I promptly ordered it all. It just arrived in our warehouse. But when its gone, it is gone for good. We have special pricing for quantity purchases.
This is a great bottle to make your HOUSE WINE.
The Castello di Volpaia was built in the 11th century as a fortified village on the Florence/Siena border. Although only part of the original protective walls and two of its six towers are still standing, the medieval layout and buildings within the village are still intact, making Volpaia undoubtedly one of the best preserved villages of its period.
In the Tuscan dialect, “Citto” means “a young boy.” In the tradition of Bordeaux Châteaux – Mouton Rothchild has its Mouton Cadet, Cheval Blanc has its Petit Cheval – Castello di Volpaia has its Citto.

This baby Super Tuscan “Citto’ or ‘young boy,’ is a blend of declassified juice from Chianti Classico with Cabernet Sauvignon from Volpaia’s Maremma property. 65% Sangiovese and 35% Cabernet. The Sangiovese provides the telltale Tuscan red and black cherry flavor profile, while the Cabernet provides the muscle. The 2015 Citto is a vivid ruby color. This generous, silky wine displays ripe fruit aromas with intense cherry and red berry flavors on the palate. It is complex, with a nice finish and represents a stellar value. At $10 per bottle when purchased by the case, this is my new “House Wine”. Make it yours. Perfect with roasted or grilled meats and pasta with red sauce.
