2013 Cascina Bongiovanni * Barolo Pernanno
$360 per six pack ($60btl- only 3-6pks left)
The 2013 Barolo Pernanno does a great job of magically transporting you within the vineyard. There are earthy and chalky notes here with hints of white truffle and forest berry. The intensity of the mineral shadings – ranging from crushed granite to lead pencil – is indeed the wine’s most beautiful quality. In the mouth, it shows medium density with a tightly woven fabric of silky tannins, soft fruit and bright acidity.
2014 Bartolo Mascarello * Barolo
$900 per six pack ($150btl- LOWEST PRICE ONLINE IS $170btl)
Here is another very successful expression from one of the appellation’s legendary estates at the heart of Barolo. The 2014 Barolo is light and delicate in appearance with a delightful bouquet of wild rose, forest berry and blue fruit. Violets and lavender give the bouquet a pretty sense of lift and intensity that reminds you of the cool climate and long growing season that characterizes this vintage. This wine also offers evident freshness with bright berry flavors and a subtle feeling of crisp crunchiness. The tannins are superbly integrated within the silky and streamlined body of this elegant Barolo. This wine will surely offer exciting bottle evolution.
2015 Luigi Pira * Barolo Vigna Rionda
$540 per six pack ($90btl- LOWEST PRICE ONLINE IS $99btl)
This is a very early sneak peek at a wine that still has a long way to go. The 2015 Barolo Vigna Rionda is softly elegant and demure. At this point in the wine’s infancy, it shows silky tight tannins and crunchy fruit brightness. The wine boasts an impressive sense of freshness, focus and precision with small berry nuances followed by grilled rosemary, crushed river stone and campfire ash. The 2015 vintage is similar to 2011 in that it offers broad shoulders and a firm spine of structure at the back. The acidity is very nicely integrated as well.
